All Things Enrichment

So what is enrichment? Enrichment improves and enhances your dog’s mental state using a range of activities designed to challenge and exercise their brains. These activities encourage your dog to problem solve, learn new skills, and become more confident! Scientists actually found that 30 minutes of enrichment has the same affect as an hour walk for most dogs!

I recommend daily enrichment exercises to fulfill your dogs mental needs and keep them from becoming bored and/or destructive.

Enrichment Toys:

  • Frozen Kong or Topples- Fill a Kong/Topple with canned food, pumpkin, greek yogurt, peanut butter, or any other dog friendly food and pop it in the freezer overnight.

  • Snuffle Mat- Throw your dog's meal in a snuffle mat!

  • Frozen Licket Mat- Smear dog friendly items on a locket mat and freeze overnight.

  • Puzzles & Interactive Toys- Put your dogs meal in interactive and/or puzzle feeders

*All of these items can be purchased from Amazon*

Edible Enrichment:

  • Bully Sticks

  • Beef Cheeks

  • Yah Chews

  • Duck Feet

  • Frozen Marrow Bones

DIY Enrichment:

  • Scatter Feeding- Dump your dog's meal on the hardwood floor, carpet, or even the grass for them to sniff out. This mimics snuffle mats.

  • Hide & Seek- Hide treats, kibble, or your dogs favorite toy for them to find.

  • Cardboard- Save cardboard boxes, paper towels, and toilet paper rolls to fill with kibble and let your dog figure it out. This mimics puzzle feeders.
